You might not have ventured out into the rain to go shopping yesterday, but those that did were reminded of a blessed fact: sales tax on clothing and shoes is no more. As mentioned last week, the tax expired on April 1 and, as NY1 reports, will last for one year.

Call this a wonderful surprise. Gothamist reports that effective April 1st sales tax will be suspended for clothing and shoes under 110 bucks. And it’ll be all sales taxes: city, state and that weird metropolitan commuter transportation district tax that gives money to the MTA.
