So here’s a fun fact about me: since I lived in Queens and went to college in Manhattan, whenever it came time for move in or move out day, I’d pack my belongings up in a suitcase and move it all using the Long Island Railroad. It’d take 3-5 trips, but it wasn’t awful. That said, I think this next guy is crazy:
This is Young Ming, a 24 year old New Yorker who just moved from Flushing to a one-bedroom on the Upper West Side. The kicker: he moved EVERYTHING using the subway. Everything: linens, dishes, air conditioner, quilts, a closet, a 40-pound bag of rice, and more.
Ming dragged two friends into the moving, but after the air conditioner burst through the trunk, they decided they’d had enough. When Ming called for help moving his bed, his friends didn’t return his calls, and one friend even skipped class to avoid more suffering.
Because his friends ditched him wised up, Ming was forced to leave behind his TV and a wodden dresser. Forlorn, Ming revealed the lesson learned:
I do want my TV but it’s too hard. I don’t want to go back. I can’t ask anyone else to help. They told everyone how hard it was and so there’s no one else to ask.
What do you think? Would you help a friend that was trying to move soley by the subway? [NY Mag]
