City Shots: Japantown Festival
Yet another great picture from photographer Lauren Colchamiro. Check out her site to see the full size photo, along with other shots from the 2010 Japantown Festival.
If you have any City Shots you want to share, send them to me at sarah@thefunkyapple.com – and don’t worry, they don’t necessarily have to be as perfect and professional as this one
We just want to see your view of the big (funky) apple!

Toilet water is not safe for drinking
This sign is actually posted above the toilets at the Queens Botanical Garden. It’s written in Braille, too, just in case someone who can’t see mistakes the toilet for a water fountain.

MTA FML Fail
Remember how the MTA planned to get rid of the awsome FML subway signs at 14th street and 6th ave? They planned to do it by moving the L up next to the 1, 2, and 3 signs.
Well, they might have forgotten something. [Gothamist]
New York City Naked Bike Ride
If you were outside yesterday, you might’ve noticed something odd: a gaggle of nude cyclists in body paint. Don’t fret: We’re not being conquered by cycling nudists, it was just the 2nd annual New York City World Naked Bike Ride.
Billed by the organization’s website as a chance to “Exercise your rights to bare your chest in NYC, your rights to assemble and to protest, as guaranteed by the US Constitution,” the ride began in Brooklyn and wound it’s way up through Manhattan. Hit up Gothamist for a full gallery of photos. Don’t worry, they’re all pretty safe for work. [Gothamist]
