The following sentence is good for anyone that likes big boats or men and women in uniform: Fleet Week pulls into harbor in Wednesday. An annual rite of summer, Fleet Week is when dozens of Navy and Coast Guard ships pull into New York to celebrate Memorial Day and drink our alcohol. If you’re in the boat-lover camp, most ships will be open for public tours. If you’re in the sailor/officer-lover camp, well, just head to a bar.
The excitement begins Wednesday morning with the parade of ships, in which dozens of ships will sail up the Hudson. Check out the Fleet Week website for full details.
