Ever year the IRS sets up volunteer income tax assistance centers (VITAs) all over the state. If you make under $50,000 a year, you can walk right in and they’ll do your taxes for free. And since they’re run by the IRS there are VITA centers in four of the five boroughs (sorry Staten Islanders, you draw the short straw). Want to find your closest location? Here’s a map:
