We’re willing to bet that you already ready knew that New York City was made up of a bunch of Islands (Manhattan, Long Island, Staten Island, Rikers Island, Governor’s Island, City Island, Roosevelt Island, etc.) but we’re also willing to be that you’ve never heard of North Brother Island. That’s cool, neither had we. But man, is it spooky.
North Brother Island sits on the East River between the Bronx and Rikers Island. It used to be home to a quarantine hospital where Typhoid Mary stayed. These days, though, it’s just abandoned. And that’s a bit of a shame, except for when photographers sneak in and take photos of it. Hit the link to see the slide show. It kind reminds me of my college.
