Everyone says that New York fans are jerks. Sure we curse at player’s wives and throw batteries, beer and spit at players, but at least we don’t tackle children. Cleveland fans, on the other hand, do tackle children; they did it to an eight year old boy after sunday’s Jets-Browns game.
An eight-year-old Jets fan went with his parents to Sunday’s game in Cleveland, a game which the Jets rallied to win in thrilling fashion. That was great for the family. The Cleveland fans however, we not so great after the game.
According to the boy’s mother, named only Danielle as she didn’t want to give out her last name, fans cursed at the boy and his father and threw food at them after the game ended. Things got even worse in the parking lot.
“As [my husband] was walking, holding my son’s hand, a guy from behind tackled him. A drunken Browns fan tackled him and pulled him out of his dad’s hand. He was on the ground crying,” Danielle said, according to the station.
The boy left the altercation with a scraped and bruised ankle. The family didn’t call the police, instead choosing to leave as soon as possible. When interviewed by the local TV satation, Browns vice president of media relations Neal Gulkis said the situation was unfortunate and disappointing and said the team is looking into the matter.
As for the boy, he said he wants to go back to a Jets game, but doesn’t want to go back to Cleveland Stadium. Smart kid.
