Woman gets bed bugs from Bronx Court

by Nigel Chiwaya on October 5, 2010

This is gross.

Bronx mother Briana Duggan claims that her apartment is full of bed bugs that she picked up while on a trip to the Bronx County Family Court last month.

“I was already broke from helping her pay for divorce lawyers,” she told the Daily News, “and now I’m paying to get them [the bedbugs] out of my home.”

The court confirmed their infestation, which was discovered and exterminated in early september. Two other Bronx courthouses– both near Yankee Stadium (keep an eye out next time you’re at a game) –discovered infestations as well.

Really, why did we stop using DDT as a pesticide again? (Oh yeah…to save Bald Eagles…I hope those eagles are happy!)

Okay, so usually I’m not offended or upset about anything you post…..usually.

My father suffered the majority of his life thanks to DDT and Agent Orange poisoning. The two were mixed together and sprayed on the bases when he was fighting in Vietnam to kill bugs and weeds. Great idea, exept for the major health issues that followed for the people it didn’t kill….And he STILL got malaria so the DDT didn’t even do the job it was supposed to.

I would have dumped a jar of bed bugs on my head if it meant that I wouldn’t have had to watch my father suffer and deteriorate for decades.

THAT is why we don’t use DDT. Because it hurts PEOPLE too, not just endagered species…..which I also care passionatly about, but I won’t get into.

Oh, and, it is thought that the DDT and Agent Orange cocktail may also be responcable for my fibromyalgia and my siblings health issues. Admittedly there is no way to prove that, but that is the opinion of more than one of my doctors and many articles on the subject.

Rosemma, I’m terribly sorry to hear that. Please accept my sincerest apologies and take this a case of this blogger sticking his entire keyboard into his mouth. I in no way meant to make light of the harm of DDT, but was simply making a joke (in poor taste).

        Again, my apologies.
