Theatre tickets are notoriously expensive, but there are plenty of ways to get your broadway tickets fix, and some of them are pretty cheap.
TKTS booths: the premiere source for cheap tickets, the TKTS booths in Times Square, the South Street Seaport, and Downtown Brooklyn offer same day tickets for 25-50% off. The only catch is that supply is limited and you have to wait in the godforsaken lines.
Read on to find more ways to get into Broadway shows on the cheap.
Student Rush, Lotteries and Standing Room Only: If you’re willing to wake up at the crack of dawn, wait in line at the box office, or stand during the show, you can get tickets at a huge discount. Most shows have a rush/lottery/SRO policy, and Playbill keeps an updated list of which shows offer what.
Youth Discounts: Some shows offer discounts to younger theatergoers. Theatre for a New Audience, for example offers $10 tickets to people age 25 and under. Collected Stories offers $30 tickets to people 30 and under.
Online: There are plenty of places online to get broadway theatre tickets, from stubhub to ebay and craigslist (yes, even craigslist, sometimes people even give their tickets away for free!)
The Funky Apple: Not that we’re going to brag or anything, but, we do occasionally get tickets to events, and when we do, we make sure to let you know.
